Planetary boundary layer - The planetary boundary layer (PBL) is an atmospheric layer where physical quantities (flow velocity, temperature, moisture etc) are considerably affected by rapid fluctuations (Turbulence) resulting from the flow interaction with the earth's surface. The atmosphere above the PBL is called free atmosphere as it is generally free of turbulence.

Ozone layer - The ozone layer, or ozonosphere, is that part of the Earth's stratosphere which contains relatively high concentrations of ozone (O3). "Relatively high" means a few parts per million, much higher than the concentrations in the lower atmosphere but still small compared to the main components of the atmosphere.

Boundary layer - In physics and fluid mechanics, the boundary layer is that layer of fluid in the immediate vicinity of a bounding surface. In the atmosphere the boundary layer is the air layer near the ground affected by diurnal heat, moisture or momentum transfer to or from the surface.

Celestial body atmosphere - Atmosphere is the general name for a layer of gases that may surround a material body of sufficient mass. The gases are attracted by the gravity of the body, and held fast if gravity is sufficient and the atmosphere's temperature is low.
