Dyson tree - A Dyson tree is a hypothetical genetically-engineered plant, (perhaps resembling a tree) capable of growing on a comet, suggested by the physicist Freeman Dyson. He suggested that such plants could produce a breathable atmosphere within hollow spaces in the comet (or even within the plants themselves) utilising solar energy and cometary materials, thus providing self-sustaining habitats for humanity in the outer solar system.
Carbon sequestering - Carbon Sequestering is a process whereby trees and other plants remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and through photosynthesis, turn it into plant material.
Permanent wilting point - Permanent wilting point or permanent wilting percentage (PWP) is defined as the soil wetness at which a plant wilts and can no longer recover its turgidity when placed in a saturated atmosphere for 12 hours.

As the first volume to discuss and document current and cutting-edge concepts and approaches to research into changing precipitation regimes andterrestrial ecosystems, this book shows the importance of precipitation, soil characteristics, and soil moisture to plant life. By the beginning of the atmosphere has no abrupt cut-off, but rather thins gradually with increasing altitude, there is no definite boundary between the atmosphere and outer space. 400,000 feet (75 miles or 120 kilometres) marks the boundary between the atmosphere and space. By exploring methods that can be used to predict responses of ecosystems to changes in atmospheric circulation and land surfaces. [1] As the first volume to discuss and document current and cutting-edge concepts and approaches to global change research. The contributors first document the importance of precipitation amount, seasonality, and frequency in shaping varied terrestrial ecosystems: desert, sagebrush steppe, oak savanna, tall- and mixed-grass prairie, and eastern deciduous forest. This volume provides a central source of information about this newly emerging area of global change. The altitude of 100 kilometres or 62 miles is also frequently used as the boundary between the atmosphere and outer space. 400,000 feet (75 miles or 120 kilometres) marks the boundary where atmospheric effects become noticeable during re-entry.
